Bird Bird is a ghetto-style Thai eatery by chef-owner Bjorn Shen of popular Middle Eastern restaurant, Artichoke. As its name suggests, Bird Bird’s menu is poultry-centric; with the humble chicken taking centre stage. Bird Bird takes inspiration from the dirtier, more aggressive flavours of the North and North Eastern regions of Thailand.
Staple items on Bird Bird’s menu include Khao Soi, a Chiang Mai curry noodle soup; Gai Tod, a garlicky double-fried chicken; Gai Yang, the Issan Province’s ubiquitous lemongrass-barbequed chicken, and Som Tum, a fiery green papaya salad. Expect the unconventional too, with menu items such as Basil Duck Tater Tots, the Big Mac Fried Rice, as well as the highly controversial Chicken Skin Sundae.
